bealonghorn.utexas.edu/texas-advance - This is the Texas Advance which is a new scholarship initiative aimed at supporting the success of economically disadvantaged individuals who have proven themselves by performing at the top of their classes.  Scholarship awards starting at $20,000 and access to various academic-enrichment communities.  Earn automatic admission to the university, apply for admission by 10/15/14, and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Aid) by 03/15/2015.

Horatio Alger Scholarship Application Information:
Criteria:  full time HS senior in the US with plans to enter a college in the US no later than the fall following graduation, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US, demonstrate critical financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, be a US citizen.  Application procedures:  go online to www.horatioalger.org/scholarships , complete One Support Form, HS transcript, and income verification.

Aspiring in math, English, foreign language there is a Baylor University's Distinguished Scholars Day - to learn more visit Baylor.edu/visit.dsd

Texas Interscholastic League Foundation -  this is a scholarship that is for students who participate in UIL academic and music competitions.  The basic requirement is that a student must compete at the UIL Academic State Meet or qualify as an Outstanding Soloist at the Texas Solo and Ensemble Contest at least once in their high school career and must plan to attend a Texas college or university.    UIL athletics or on honor participations does not qualify a student, but may enhance a student's application.  The website for information is www.tilf.uiltexas.org from March 1, 2015-May 30, 2015.

11/21/14:

Weldon Hall Jr Scholarship, deadline 3/3/2015, must be an entering freshman student at Sam Houston State University majoring in Art and submit a complete packet (all materials must be submitted in a single packet at one time with completed and signed Weldon Hall Jr Scholarship Application Form Portfolio of 8-12 works, 2-D or 3-D, including at least 3 drawings.  Work must be submitted as JPGs on CD or thumb drive, and date of completion, image list, indicating media, size and date of completion, artist's statement no longer than one typewritten page, self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of materials) to the SHSU Art Department by the specified deadline.  Send your complete Packet to:

UTSA Alumni Association Scholarship.  The scholarship value is $5,000.00 per year, it is renewable with qualifications met.  Deadline for applications is Midnight, Sunday, February 15 for the 2015-2016 school year.

The UTSA Alumni Association supports The University of Texas at San Antonio.  UTSA is an emerging Tier One research institution specializing in health, energy, security, sustainability, and human and social development.  UTSA has more than 29,000 students (Fall 2013) with 147 degree programs.

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) at Texas Tech University has scholarship funds that are only available for students from our county/school.  Go to www.applytexas.org to submit your application to Texas Tech.  From there you can submit your scholarship application.  The deadline to enter is 2/1/2015.

    • If currently attending a two-year accredited community college or vocational/technical program you must have completed a minimum of 25 credit hours.
  • have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • be pursuing studies leading to a career in the automotive aftermarket or related field.
  • remain enrolled as a full-time student for the first full semester following the award.

Note: If you are currently a high school senior, you are not eligible to apply.

Our Mission
