Covington ISD trustees hired Valley View High School Principal, Dr. Chris M. Heskett, as the District's new superintendent during a regularly scheduled monthly board meeting on Monday, April 10, 2017. Dr. Heskett's two year employment contract begins July 1, 2017. He will spend some time this month working with the current Superintendent, Diane Innis, in order to facilitate a smooth transition. Mrs. Innis is fully retiring after serving as the Covington ISD's  superintendent for the past 13 years with her last day of employment being June 15, 2017. 

Dr. Heskett has 22 years of experience in education with the last nine years serving as the high School principal at Valley View ISD.  He has administrative experience at elementary and middle school levels as well. Considering himself a lifelong learner, he earned his Ed.D at Lamar University in 2016, a master's degree in education from Midwestern State University in 2001, and obtained his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Midwestern State University in 1991.

Dr. Heskett and his wife, Keri, will be joining the Covington community in June along with their 7th grade daughter, Peyton. They also have an older daughter, Madison, who will be graduating from Valley View High School this year and will attend the University of North Texas in Denton in the fall.
