Free School Meals for All Students Ending for the 2022-2023 School Year
During the pandemic the "Free School Meals Program" was put in place by the federal government to help ease the burden of paying for school breakfast and lunch when many families were struggling. Unfortunately, after two years of free breakfast and lunch for all, we are having to return to charging a fee for meals to students who don’t qualify for free or reduced lunches.
Beginning July 1, which starts the meal application process for the new school year, all families that may qualify for free or reduced price meals must complete and submit a free/reduced price meal application. Completing an application takes less than 10 minutes and your application information remains private and confidential. Only one application per household is needed. Qualification for free/reduced meals is based on income and household size.
Please consider that it’s more than a meal application. Completing the school free/reduced price meal application may also help to provide free/reduced 30 day meal rollover for next school year, state and federal funding for school budgets, and fee waivers for college applications and admission tests.
Applications need to be submitted to Rhonda Kennedy, Food Services Manager. If you have questions or need assistance, she may be reached at (254) 854-2215 ext. 1039 or by email at Rhonda Kennedy.
