Subject: Upcoming Covington ISD School Board Meeting – Notice of Location Change and Informational Presentation
Dear Covington ISD Community,
The Covington Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, November 9th at 6:00 PM.
Please note that the venue has been changed to the school cafeteria to accommodate a larger audience. We anticipate higher community interest due to a scheduled guest presentation from Matthew Gomes of Pacifico Energy.
About the Presentation:
Pacifico Energy specializes in building power plants designed to support data centers. They are the company potentially tasked with constructing the power plant for the proposed data center located on the Blum/Covington ISD boundary line.
Mr. Gomes will outline the potential impacts of this project on our school district and local community. Please note that Covington ISD is not incentivizing this data center. This is strictly an informational presentation to ensure the Board and the district are fully aware of any potential developments.
Community Guidelines & Public Comment Reminders:
To ensure the meeting runs smoothly, please keep the following standard school board protocols in mind:
- 💬 Public Comment Period: Time will be allotted at the beginning of the meeting for community members to speak.
- 📝 Sign-Up Required: Speakers must sign up prior to the meeting and are limited to 3 minutes each.
- 🔇 Board Response: The Board is there may not respond to or discuss items brought up during public comment.
- 👥 Observation Only: Once the public comment portion concludes, members of the general public are welcome to stay and listen, but may no longer comment or ask questions.
- 🏛️ Board Protocol: During the remainder of the meeting, only the Board trustees and the superintendent are permitted to speak with each other and the presenter.
